My thirtieth birthday was such a HaPPy day! REALLY! I don't normally go big on birthdays, but somehow the big THREE O felt like something to celebrate in style!
As most of you know, my favorite color is pink... I mean I did not choose the name Pink Poppy Ideas for no reason! :-) and a birthday celebration without pink would just be totally wrong. All the dreaming started with my dear sister-in-law... her passion in life being good food - but actually perfect cake! So, we would sit for hours and dream (obviously over a cup of tea and a decent piece of cake) about ideas for my birthday party. I have two very handsome, adorable and cute but extremely busy boys aged 3 and 1... so as many moms know, I warm cup of tea - in peace and quiet - doesn't come by too often and also good conversation without any interruptions!! So for my birthday I wanted to enjoy a peaceful cup of tea with close friends. On the invitation that I designed, I clearly asked for all kids to be left at home. Had it been any other event that a I had to sell... that was definitely a very good selling point! Lol!
With a lot of help I had the best tea party of my life! Everyone felt so spoiled and we laughed so much that it hurt at times. We also had the privilege to enjoy the best coffee - freshly ground on the spot and served by a personal Barista (my brother-in-law). Enough chocolate cake and brownies on the table, let alone all the other divine sweet things kept the ladies in a happy place! Thanks to dear family and friends that helped bake, prepare and decorate the party was a huge success. I really enjoyed the set-up and decorating part, especially hanging all the Chinese lanterns... Hubby and his brother up on chairs and ladders and my sister-in-law and myself ordering from below, hang it higher/lower ... left/right ... up/down ... more/less... etc! Hahaha!
The flowers were an incredibly special part of the party - my very dear mother-in-law, whom I love very much, is very ill and bed-ridden with cancer. She has a very creative soul and loves arranging flowers. Even though she is confined to bed she wanted to do all the flowers for my birthday party. With help from a close friend of hers these absolutely gorgeous arrangements arrived at my house. It means so much to me that she did it with such amazing love and passion. Even though she was unable to attend the tea party, I still had her 'there' with the flowers... I thought of her the whole time. How special is that!!??
Anyway... enough blabbering... here comes the photo's...
